TYPES OF EVANGELISM & OUTREACH

There are many creative ways that you can evangelize and outreach. Here are just a few types that have been found to be successful. You can choose one from below or choose to do your own!

• Spark a conversation then share the gospel.

• Open-air preaching using a microphone or megaphone.

• Ride the public buses or rails or visit those waiting for the bus/rail and share the gospel with the passengers one-on-one.

• Do an apartment outreach: Host free food, games, etc or share the gospel/prayer door-to-door.

• Do a survey: have a survey of 4-5 questions (1st question can be general-about a topic that everyone is familiar with: Example: Do you believe that marijuana should be legalized in our nation. Then the remaining questions should be about God/Salvation. NOTE: If you want to do this one, we have a survey you can use. Email info@citywideoutreach.com and request a copy)

• Distribute free ice-cold water bottles during weekends of extreme heat at major street intersections. Replace water bottle labels with customized labels that serve as a witnessing tool and call for salvation. (Alternative: giveaway soda; add a customized label). Can distribute at busy intersections (be safe), at a park/parking lot entrance, or grocery store (ask permission)

• Go to major parks, festival/event or a major intersection and set up a Prayer Station/Tent and offer one-to-one prayer and counseling.

• Go door-to-door in neighboring communities offering prayer.

• Curbside Evangelism: Use bright colored poster boards to make signs with scripture or simple comments (Example: God Loves You, Jesus Loves You, Need Prayer?, We’re Sorry, etc.) and have volunteers hold up the signs at a busy corner or cross-street intersection. Set up a tent with volunteers in an empty or near-by parking lot (ask permission if needed) so people who want prayer or counseling can have their need met on-the-spot.

• Do a flash mob song or dance, witness throughout performance by incorporating poster boards with gospel messages; afterwards, proclaim the gospel and/or mingle with the crowd and share the gospel one-on-one. Or do the new craze: The Mannequin Challenge.

• Do a community outreach event that the community would enjoy (free food, games, music, break-dancers, rappers, etc) or that would benefit the community (art classes, health fair, etc) and share the gospel either one-on-one or at a set time during the event.

• Feed the homeless or pass out toiletries and share the gospel with them.

• Host a free car wash at a gas station; share the gospel with car owner while car is getting washed

• Become a vendor at an event: Setup a table with free tracts, bibles, or bracelets, etc and offer prayer. (Ideas: Check with the local YMCA and see if they’re having any events on that day; check to see if an organization (not a church) is having an Easter Egg Hunt that weekend, etc; check to see what city-sponsored events are happening that weekend).

• Go to a worldly event/festival, purchase an entry ticket like everyone else then spark conversation with individuals and share the gospel one-on-one.

• Call a shelter and ask can your team volunteer that day to do an activity, serve, teach a bible lesson, sing, etc while sharing the gospel.

• Promote and Host an Open Discussion Forum at a non-church facility. Have an attention-grabbing theme about something people are interested in. As the topic is openly/candidly discussed among the guests, share God’s point-of-view and ask questions: “What do you think God thinks about this?”

• Go to the airport; share the gospel one-on-one while people are waiting for their flight

• Visit a nursing home-pray with residents and share the gospel one-on-oneHost a free dance or exercise class(es) and share the gospel with the class.

TIP: Go to areas where large crowds of people gather. Examples: parks, festival, bus station/transit center, mall, busy streets, college campuses, hot spots Downtown, large neighborhoods, etc.
